In accordance with the Rules of Procedure, Members are invited to attend the Thirty-first Meetings of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources and the Scientific Committee which will be held in Hobart, Australia, from 22 October to 1 November 2012.



The venue for these meetings is at the CCAMLR Headquarters which is located at 181 Macquarie Street, Hobart.

The CCAMLR Secretariat is pleased to announce that the new CCAMLR website will be launched on Friday 13 July 2012. The website is in CCAMLR’s four official languages: English, French, Russian and Spanish.

The attached report summarises fishing activities in 2011/12 as reported in 5-day, 10-day and monthly catch and effort data submitted to the Secretariat to date.  These data are circulated in accordance with conservation measures in force.



Catch and effort by reporting period for each fishery are emailed regularly to Contracting Parties participating in these fisheries.

As Convener of the open-ended informal group appointed by SCAF (SCAF-CG), Australia has requested that the attached letter be circulated to all Members. Australia requests that Members interested in participating in SCAF-CG nominate a contact point to the Secretariat as soon as possible, but no later than 12 July 2012.

In accordance with Conservation Measure 10-06, paragraph 6 Members are advised that two vessels, the Chio Maru No. 3 and the Hong Jin No. 701 have been included on the Draft CP-IUU Vessel List for consideration by the Commission. Members are reminded that these vessels have been included on the basis of information gathered in accordance with CM 10-06, paragraph 3 provided by New Zealand (COMM CIRC 12/08 and COMM CIRC 12/11).

The 35th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM XXXV) and 15th meeting of the Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP XV), which met in Hobart during the period 11 to 20 June 2012, reviewed, inter alia, the implementation of existing Antarctic Specially Protected Areas (ASPAs) and Antarctic Specially Managed Areas (ASMAs). CEP XV and ATCM XXXV called for closer consultation with CCAMLR on ASPAs and ASMAs.

Australia has requested that the attached information be circulated to all Members of the Commission.



As the information suggests the vessel have reflagged to Tanzania, I will advise Tanzania accordingly. If no comments are received by 22 June 2012, I will update the NCP IUU Vessel List.
