CCAMLR has been invited to partner with a consortium of industry organisations, non-government organisations and government agencies to produce a 5–7 minute promotional DVD profiling successful collaborative efforts to minimise seabird mortality in commercial fisheries by implementing long-term sustainable mitigation practices. The two fisheries that are the focus of the DVD are the New Zealand deepwater trawl fishery and the CCAMLR toothfish fishery. The total budget for the project is NZD30 000. Confirmed partners in this initiative are:

Members are reminded that contributions to the Commission’s 2012 budget, in accordance with Financial Regulation 5.6, were payable no later than 1 March 2012.



At its meeting in 2011, and in accordance with Financial Regulation 5.6, the Commission granted extensions to 31 May 2012 for Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Republic of Korea, South Africa, USA and Uruguay in respect of the due date for payment of their 2012 Members’ contributions.

Members are advised that the some of the catches from the Republic of Korea and the UK in 2010/11 were incorrectly recorded in Volume 24 of the Statistical Bulletin.



The corrected total catch in 2010/11 for the Republic of Korea is 31 851 t (incorrectly reported as 30 695 t), for the UK is 1 947 t (incorrectly reported as 1 598 t). Detailed corrections are as follows:

The attached report summarises fishing activities in 2011/12 as reported in 5-day, 10-day and monthly catch and effort data submitted to the Secretariat to date.  These data are circulated in accordance with conservation measures in force.



Catch and effort by reporting period for each fishery are emailed regularly to Contracting Parties participating in these fisheries.

In accordance with Article IX.6(b) of the Convention, Members are advised that, as no objections have been received, the conservation measures and resolutions adopted at the Thirtieth Meeting of CCAMLR and notified to all Members on 9 November 2011 (COMM CIRC 11/102–SC CIRC 11/49), became binding on all Members on 7 May 2012.
