CCAMLR Financial and Investment Position as at 31 December 2012

Members are advised that the Commission’s Financial and Investment position as at 31 December 2012 is set out in the attached reports.
Revised income and expenditure budgets for 2012 as approved at CCAMLR-XXXI have replaced the original budgeted figures included in the previous quarterly reports for 2012.
Notification of Vessel Replacement in Krill Fishery – information submitted by China
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
In accordance with Conservation Measure 21-03, paragraph 5, China has advised that the fishing vessel Kai Fu has been replaced with the Kai Li due to operational reasons.

Monthly Fishery Report No. 1 - Update on Catches Reported to CCAMLR in 2012/13

The attached monthly report summarises fishing activities in the Convention Area in 2012/13, based on catch and effort reports submitted to the Secretariat to date. Detailed fishery reports are emailed regularly to Contracting Parties and their vessels participating in each fishery.

Bushfires in Tasmania

In response to a large number of inquiries concerning the bushfires in Tasmania I am pleased to advise that all CCAMLR staff are safe and have only experienced minor inconvenience as a result of the fires that have been so widespread in Tasmania for the last three days.

Exploratory longline fishery vessel withdrawal – information submitted by Ukraine
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION
In accordance with Conservation Measure 41-01, Ukraine has withdrawn the notifications for the vessel Koreiz for the exploratory longline fisheries for toothfish in Subareas 88.1 and 88.2 in the 2012/13 season due to technical reasons.

Deployment of a sub-surface mooring in Subarea 48.2
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION
Members are advised that the British Antarctic Survey has deployed a sub-surface mooring in the Inaccessible Islands Trough, west of Coronation Island, South Orkney Islands, Subarea 48.2. This mooring is fitted with instruments which will provide a continuous record of salinity, temperature, depth and acoustic backscatter for the next 12 months. The acoustic backscatter will be used to generate year-round estimates of krill density that should complement the data collected during annual surveys and by the krill fishery in this region.
CDS Dissostichus export and re-export documents – information submitted by the Secretariat

The final versions of the CDS Dissostichus export and re-export documents, as they will appear in Conservation Measure 10-05 (2012) and the e-CDS are attached for circulation to all Members.
