I hope that all of you have started off 2013 with renewed energy and enthusiasm toward making this an especially productive year for CCAMLR.
As you are aware, during the course of CCAMLR-XXXI the Commission requested that the Scientific Committee hold an intersessional meeting (SC-CAMLR-IM-I). CCAMLR-XXXI, paragraph 7.105 states:

In an effort to advance preparations for the Special Meeting in Bremerhaven in July I am circulating:
Status of the voluntary fund established for the purposes of supporting the Intersessional Meeting of the Scientific Committee and the Special Meeting of the Commission – Bremerhaven, Germany, 11 to 16 July 2013
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
On 5 December 2012 I invited contributions to the voluntary trust fund established for the purpose of supporting costs associated with these meetings (COMM CIRC 12/161 and SC CIRC 12/66). I advised that Germany has offered, as a voluntary contribution, to take responsibility for providing the venue for both meetings. Additional contributions, amounting to A$125 000, were invited to cover:
Fishery Closure Notice – Fishery for Dissostichus spp. in Subarea 88.1 in 2012/13

In accordance with conservation measures in force, the fishery for Dissostichus spp. in Subarea 88.1 in 2012/13 will be closed at 2400 h (UTC) on 25 January 2013.

Notification for Scientific Research in 2012/13 – information submitted by Argentina
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
In accordance with Conservation Measure 24-01, paragraph 2, Argentina has provided the attached letter in relation to scientific research activities. The catch of Champsocephalus gunnari is expected to be <10 tonnes.

CCAMLR Catch Documentation Scheme (e-CDS)
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION
Due to technical issues, the implementation of changes to the e-CDS, in accordance with revisions made to Conservation Measure 10-05 (2012), has been delayed. The Secretariat has been advised by the developer that these issues have been overcome and that testing of the e-CDS will commence next week. We are working hard to make the updated system available to Members on 1 February.

Notification of Vessel Replacement for Research Fishing in Subarea 48.5 – information submitted by Russia
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
Russia has advised that due to the ice conditions in Subarea 48.5 (Weddell Sea) during the research period for the 2012/2013 season the fishing vessel Yantar-35 will undertake research activities in place of the Yantar-31.

Notification of vessel replacement in krill fishery – information submitted by Russia
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
In accordance with Conservation Measure 21-02, paragraph 10, Russia has advised that the fishing vessel Yantar-31 will be replaced with the Yantar-35 due to operational reasons.
