TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

Members are advised that 10 Members have submitted notifications for exploratory fisheries in 2011/12 (Conservation Measure 21-02).

These notifications are for exploratory longline fisheries for Dissostichus spp. in Subareas 48.6, 88.1 and 88.2 and Divisions 58.4.1, 58.4.2, 58.4.3a and 58.4.3b (summary attached). No notifications were received for new fisheries in 2011/12 (Conservation Measure 21-01).

All notifying Members also provided preliminary assessments of known and anticipated impacts of exploratory fishing activities on vulnerable marine ecosystems (Conservation Measure 22-06).

Notifications for 2011/12 and the preliminary assessments have been placed, in their original language, on the ‘Members Only’ section of the CCAMLR website.

Members are reminded that notification payments must be made within one month of receipt of notification and the Secretariat should be notified as soon as payments are made (please refer to COMM CIRC 11/63 SC CIRC 11/30). The notification summary on the CCAMLR website will be updated on 2 September 2011.

Paid notifications and corresponding preliminary assessments will be submitted to the Commission as CCAMLR-XXX documents; summaries will be translated.
