TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

Members’ attention is drawn to the attached correspondence from the Association of Responsible Krill Harvesting Companies (ARK) seeking an invitation to attend CCAMLRXXX and SC-CAMLR-XXX as an Observer.

The application was received after the deadline for the consideration of invitations to observe this year’s meetings as provided for under Commission Rule 15 and 32 and Scientific Committee Rule 5 and 21.

Following discussion with the Chair of the Commission, it is suggested that CCAMLR-XXX and SC-CAMLR-XXX discuss the interest of ARK in participating in CCAMLR and SC-CAMLR as an Observer and consider inviting ARK to observe next year’s meetings (under Agenda Item 17(i) on the Commission Agenda or 15(iii) of the Scientific Committee Agenda).

It is noted that ARK intends to hold meetings in Hobart at the same time as CCAMLR-XXX and it is possible some of its members may be included on national delegations.
