In accordance with Conservation Measure (CM) 31-02, paragraph 7, the Secretariat was informed on 05 June 2021 that the Korean-flagged vessel Sejong will not immediately depart the closed fishery for Euphausia superba in Subarea 48.1 per CM 31-02, paragraph 3. 

The vessel advised that all gear had been removed from the water prior to the fishery closure as announced by COMM CIRC 21/71–SC CIRC 21/96 and that the vessel would remain in the area for one day to collect krill acoustic data.

Korea advised the Secretariat that the Sejong was requested to collect krill acoustic data in Subarea 48.1 consistent with recommendations from SG-ASAM-19 (SG-ASAM-19 report, paragraph 3.2) and that the collected acoustic data will be submitted to the Secretariat as soon as possible.
