In accordance with Conservation Measure (CM) 24-04, paragraph 4, the UK has requested circulation of the attached notification for the designation of a newly-exposed marine area (adjacent to Pine Island Glacier, Subarea 88.3) as a Stage 1 Special Area for Scientific Study (SASS). 

The GIS shapefiles containing the coordinates for the Stage 1 SASS are available on the CCAMLR GIS. 

In accordance with CM 24-04, paragraph 5, the Stage 1 SASS shall be deemed designated 48 hours after all Members have been notified by this circular.
