The Secretariat wishes to inform Members that due to the COVID pandemic the generation of the 2020 Statistical Bulletin was unfortunately delayed but is now available on the CCAMLR website (Volume 32, 2020: www.ccamlr.org/node/74362).

In considering the generation of Volume 33 (2021), the Secretariat has reviewed the requests of the Scientific Committee (SC-CAMLR-38, paragraphs 3.7 and 3.8).

This year, in accordance with the request of SC-CAMLR-38, paragraph 3.8, the Secretariat proposes to generate the Statistical Bulletin catch and effort data for the 2019/20 season directly from C data (C1, C2, C5). These data have already been submitted by Members in accordance with Conservation Measure 23-04.

Following our established practice, the Secretariat will send the preliminary Statistical Bulletin data to Members for review on 1 March. If Members identify the need for changes, they should resubmit relevant amended C data before 1 April 2021. The Secretariat will be happy to provide assistance with the process of resubmission of relevant C data. Volume 33 of the Statistical Bulletin will be published in April.

The Secretariat has also reviewed the formats for presentation of the Statistical Bulletin (SC-CAMLR-38, paragraph 3.7). The Secretariat proposes for this year to retain the main published data format as the CSV files of the entire dataset and the existing tabulations of data, but to improve the documentation associated with the data. Further proposals for improved presentation and discoverability of CCAMLR data will be presented to SC-CAMLR-40.
